Shake it up, Baby!! (16 recipes…)

Bear Claw

After Weight Loss Surgery a high-protein eating plan is imperative.  Because we have such limited space for food – and getting in enough protein is hard with food alone – we rely heavily on supplements.

Many protein powders leave  a lot to be desired – there are some that are delicious out there, so keep looking!  But even those can use help for variety’s sake.  I’ve got you covered!!

(For flavorings I use the DaVinci or Torani sugar free syrups, and the Gosh That’s Good White Velvet and Rich Classic white and dark chocolate powders.)

****(If you want them hot, you can use water or coffee that is fresh-coffee-pot-hot, but it’s best to use a hand-held blender wand or else it’s hard to get the lumps out.)

Linda – I have also found when doing these shakes hot, it helps to mix the protein powder with just a bit of the hot liquid and make a smooth paste before pouring in the remainder of the hot liquid. This keeps the lumps out and keeps the hot liquid from “cooking” the protein. Also, be really careful shaking up hot liquid in a Blender Bottle! I found this out the hard way! Make sure you’re standing over a sink – the liquid expands quickly and can shoot out the top!

    thanks

    1. Linda says:

You can buy it directly from the DaVinci website. On the west coast there is Cash & Carry or Smart & Final restaurant supply stores that are open to the public and they also carry the sugar free syrups.

I tried the CaraMocha today… didn’t have cocoa powder at work so just used one tiny scoop of Gosh That’s Good mocha… also, didn’t have the sf syrup either and just used some powdered french vanilla coffee creamer! It was really good….

I tend to order my protein powder online, but you can also get some really good ones at GNC (their house brand is called Gold Standard, I think), Vitamin World, Vitamin Shoppe, places like that. (Health/vitamin/supplement stores). Walmart has Body Fortress that is yummy, too.

Look for the Whey Isolate, or Whey Protein that is low-carb. Some are Gainers for bodybuilders, and that’s the last thing we need!

My favorite powders are Syntrax Nectar (vanilla, chocolate, lemonade), Elite (rich chocolate, chocolate mint, cafe mocha), Champion (chocolate), Syntha 6 (all flavors), Lean Dessert (all flavors) Inspire from Bariatric Eating (all flavors).

      My favorite online stores are:
